In this video you can watch how Festo Robotino follow color (can be red, yellow, blue, orange and other colors) ball.

Application is adaptive – Robotino speed changes with distance between Robotino and color ball – larger distance, larger movement speed.

Festo Robotino – voice management

Festo Robotino is a great educational and research tool.

In this video you can watch how Robotino is controlled via voice commands “move” (forward), “back”, “left”, “right”, “turn” and “speed” (increase speed twice after every command).

Voice commands are recognized by Microsoft Office 2003 Voice recognition engine.

Recognized commands are interpreted as joystick movement (there are many OpenSource programs to emulate different input methods).

Joystick commands are included in Robotino View 2 library.

Lesson content management

Lesson content management is reduced and changed version of the Reference Management.

What is interesting here?

- navigation from portal record to related record field on Layout Tab panel – GoTo Object,

- multilingual labels via separate table records (similar to many internet portal solutions),

- script to insert in to Container field located on Layout Tab panel, for example – PDF file reference and calculate web viewer address from reference,

- on this layout – instead to define Window width and height – hairline and Resize Window to Fit do the job,

- may be something more…

File is open for changes etc.

FileMaker Pro 10 is required for Script triggers.

Calendar 2010+

Calendars are very typical New Year present. We knew thousands of them – all different and in the same time looking practically the same.

Enterprise calendars or Personalized client calendars are expensive and layout take a lot of time.

Proposed fCal is free from mentioned.

fCal is FileMaker based and is available via products download.

Resource management

Resource Management is the efficient and effective deployment for an organization’s resources when they are needed.
Resources may include financial resources, inventory, human skills, production resources, etc.
Resources are very different in organizations, schools etc. so universal application is complicated and user must have necessary training to implement such universal solution.
FileMaker based applications are intuitive and user friendly. Using FileMaker is possible to develop management applications without special ICT training.

FileMaker is great program – with FileMaker it is possible to implement different resource management algorithms.
Currently I develop Education Resource Management. FileMaker based application is simple and first examples show results very good results.

Appointments – TimeTable

Table on computer screen visually representing appointments during the day or day timetable is very useful is a lot of cases. For example – healthcare, dentists, car servicing, lectures, training etc.

Calendars are typically used for such task. But calendars cannot represent “overall picture” for several workplaces in several locations. In this technology file are 4 workplaces and unlimited size of locations or unlimited count of workplaces.

Client and theme (task) or car plate and owner etc. can be represented easily.
Different colors show process – appointment (black), arrived (green) and finished (red) – or other.

Mentioned is single user version.
Multiuser version is more complicated and must be discussed in another article.
IWP and PHP version also is different.

FM PHP – execute script

Place button(s) on FileMaker API PHP page to execute FM script is special task.

FM API include PerformScriptCommand:

PHP is server-based language, so script typically will be executed on page load. On every page load. That can cause problems – you may be needn’t to run script on every page load.

In typical configuration – edit.php, browse.php, list.php etc. – including above code cannot be triggered via Button on page.

To solve this I include new page – script.php. On this page I include above code.

Here ‘Npk’ is value from field representing record number – auto enter serial – passed as script parameter. ‘List’ is script name.

Main problem is - for each script a separate php page must be written (one button-one page).

FM PHP record tree

In some cases FileMaker record tree view is very useful to quickly browse through records.

We have several FileMaker solutions described by Matt Petrowsky (http://www.filemakermagazine.com/videos/unlimited-infinite-hierarchies.html) or Mikhail Edoshin(http://edoshin.skeletonkey.com/2008/07/hierarchies-in.html) etc.

If we go to PHP, there is a different picture – mentioned techniques cannot be so easy applied to PHP.

I have combined PHP tree menu – described by Agner Fog (www.agner.org/software/phpmenu/) with standard FileMaker PHP Assistant generated result to achieve record tree view in web browser.

Pop-up window is added to quickly view and edit records.
